Report
Pre conference workshops
A two-day pre conference workshop was held at Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro on July 14 & 15, 2019 for trainees and trainers respectively. The topic was "Learning Activities-a practical approach geared towards the examinations."
Forty nine trainees and 74 trainers attended.
The meeting held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.
Seventy fellows attended. We were pleased to have in our midst the Immediate past College President, Immediate past Secretary General and one of the College Gold medallists.
On necrology, the Faculty lost one member, Dr Orogade Adeola. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
Update courses on Infectious diseases and paediatric cardiology were held in January and May 2019 respectively. The Faculty is planning for one more update on endocrinology later in the year. Other updates on biostatistics and nephrology will follow.
Approved sub specialties , cardiology, infectious diseases and nephrology have not fully taken off because Training Institutions are reluctant to pay for accreditation. The Faculty appeals to the College for some degree of waivers to encourage institutions to host these sub specialties.
The fellows were informed of a whatsapp group dedicated for members ( pre fellowship) and they should encourage members to link to it.
Poor results in our examinations were noted and trainees and fellows were implored to commit themselves to training and should apply the curriculum in all sections of training.
The welfare needs of our members were discussed and a five-man committee set up to work out modalities for full implementation.
Nomination for the Grant TOT included the following;
Dr. Sunny Ochigbo, 07063930682, ,
Dr. NMA Jiya, 08036056405, nmajiya@ and
Dr. Oliemen Peterside, 07068627904, .
Members were informed that future meetings will be paper.
